History and things to know

According to temple tradition, it originated in a dōjō opened at Shimizuura by Ryōken, who became a disciple of Rennyo Shōnin in Bunmei 8, and in Eiroku 6 it moved to Saginomori and became the Saika Gobō. After Kennyo Shōnin withdrew from Osaka it served as the head temple for about three years, and its halls, burned in air raids, were rebuilt in Heisei 6.
