History and things to know
According to the official guide, a local historical chronology records that it was built in Shōhei 1 (1346), in the Nanboku-chō period, and it was opened as a Sōtō temple in Keian 2 (1649). The main hall, which burned in the early Edo period, is a thatched building rebuilt in An'ei 7 (1778) in accordance with the wishes of the chief priest of Dōkō-ji, its parent temple.
