History and things to know
According to the shrine's tradition, in Enchō 4 (926), when a settlement was beginning to form in Senju, a divided spirit was welcomed from Fushimi Inari and an Inari shrine was founded, and in Kōan 2 (1279) a divided spirit was also welcomed from Hikawa Jinja, the ichinomiya of Musashi Province, and a Hikawa shrine was founded. It is also recorded that Minamoto no Yoshiie prayed here for victory on his way to Ōshū, and the place was once called Futatsumori.
