History and things to know
According to the temple's records, it began when the founder, Kikuchi Masakatsu, received the teaching of Jitsunyo, the ninth head of Hongan-ji, in the Eishō era, became a monk, and took the name 正了. In Eishō 10 he received writing in the founder's own hand and a painted portrait of Prince Shōtoku, and his son 了裕 built a hall in Keichō 2, when Kyōnyo was staying in Yamato, and named it Sennen-ji.
