History and things to know
According to temple tradition, it was founded in Keichō 15 (1610). In Meiji 27 it merged with Kokushō-ji, which had been founded in Nihon'enoki (present-day Takanawa). In the grounds are the graves of people connected with the Ōishi family and a memorial to Chin Genpin, a martial artist from Ming China who was closely connected with Kokushō-ji.
