History and things to know

According to the temple's tradition, it was founded in Kan'ei 5 near today's JR Tamachi Station by the priest 本蓮社徳誉大源, with Sakaiya Kichibei supporting its founding. In Keian 4, in the time of Tokugawa Ietsuna, it moved to its present site. Its former Jizō image was lost in the earthquake and in the war, and the present principal image is a standing Amida Nyorai brought from 月崇寺 in Kasama.
