History and things to know

According to the temple's tradition, it is said to have been founded here in Eitoku 2 (1382) by the priest 良順, who served as the 4th abbot of Kōmyō-ji in Kamakura. In the Tenshō era it was revived by the priest 総譽, who founded Jōkoku-ji in Iwatsuki. Old ema (votive pictures) of the Edo period are handed down in the Jizō Hall and are cultural properties of the city.
