History and things to know

According to temple tradition, Tachibana Muneshige, lord of the Yanagawa domain, built it as a sub-temple of Kōtoku-ji, with the priest 州甫 as founder, to pray for the repose of his birth mother (the wife of Takahashi Jōun). It lost its temple treasures in the Great Kantō Earthquake, and after relocating it lost its halls to forced evacuation during the war, but the main hall was rebuilt in Shōwa 34.
