History and things to know
According to the shrine's records, its shrine buildings are said to have been founded in Wadō 2 (709). It received Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade, in Kashō 2 (849), became an official shrine and a Myōjin Taisha in Jōgan 3 (861), and was later designated the ichinomiya of Sanuki Province. The shrine explains that there is a deep pool beneath the floor of the inner sanctuary, and because the lords of the domain prayed there in times of flood and drought, it was also called Jōsui Daimyōjin.
