History and things to know

According to the temple's tradition, it began when 蒼穹隆公 opened it as Entoku-in in the castle town of Kiyosu, and with the Kiyosu-goshi move of Keichō 15 (1610) it moved to the present Monzen-chō. In Genbun 3 (1738) it changed its name to Tennei-ji; its halls burned in the air raids of Shōwa 20, but the principal image and the image of Sanbō Daikōjin are said to have escaped harm.
