Enshrined kami: Ōnamuchi no Mikoto

History and things to know

According to shrine tradition, Ōnamuchi no Mikoto remained on 本茂山 (Mt. Hongūsan) and made this mountain a "place where the divine spirit is kept" (止所の地). In the Taihō era (701–704), following an oracle, a shrine building was built in the village as the satomiya; in the Heian period it became a shikinaisha and the Ichinomiya of Mikawa Province, and in Meiji 4 it was ranked as a Kokuhei Shōsha.

Introduced by this site, based on materials from the shrine or temple and public bodies.
