History and things to know

According to the shrine's tradition, it originated in Tenshō 19 (1591) when Goemon of the Takeuchi family, connected with Kashii-gū, picked up a statue of the Ebisu deity on the beach on his way back from worshipping at Kashii-gū and Hakozaki-gū. It was founded on the 10th day of the 1st month of the following year, Bunroku 1 (1592), when a shrine building was set up to enshrine it, and it is said that as offerings and a festival were made every year on the 10th day of the New Year, the number of worshippers grew.
