History and things to know

According to shrine tradition, it was founded in Tengyō 3 (940) as Tsukudo Myōjin; after shrine buildings were constructed by Ōta Dōkan, it moved to Tayasu, Ushigome-mitsuke and Tsukudohachiman-chō. In Meiji 7 it received Amatsuhiko Ho no Ninigi no Mikoto and was renamed Tsukudo Jinja, and after burning in the war it moved to its present site in Shōwa 29.
