History and things to know
According to shrine tradition, after Hamada Castle was attacked by Oda forces and fell in Tenshō 3 (1575), former retainers of the castle's lords, the Tawara family, built Unomori Daimyōjin on the castle site and enshrined the spirits of the Tawara family's ancestors. In Meiji 42 (1909) Sugawara Jinja and a Goryō shrine were merged with it and it took its present name, and in Heisei 2 its main sanctuary and worship hall were newly built.
