History and things to know
According to temple tradition, it originated about 700 years ago when the priest 鈍庵, who opened 真禅寺, built a hermitage here. In Keichō 9 (1604) Hiraoka Iwami no Kami, who had been granted a fief at Tokuno, became its founding patron and made it his family temple; after a later period of decline, the priest 哲叟 rebuilt its halls in Genroku 7 (1694).
