A child of Ninigi no Mikoto. As Yamasachibiko, who caught game in the mountains, he exchanged tools with his elder brother Hoderi no Mikoto, who caught the creatures of the sea, but he lost the fishhook he had borrowed and was harshly pressed for it. On the advice of Shiotsuchi no Kami he reached the palace of Watatsumi no Kami, was united with Toyotamabime and spent three years there, then returned riding a wani, having obtained the fishhook and the shiomitsutama and shiohirutama (tide-raising and tide-ebbing jewels). With the power of the jewels he subdued his brother and received his vow of protection. Later he saw Toyotamabime giving birth in the form of a wani and parted from his wife, but they exchanged songs. He is said to have dwelt long at the palace of Takachiho.
