About this English rendering
This site’s English rendering of the Japanese meaning guide, aligned with this edition. It is separate from the source words for recitation and is not an official liturgy. Sacred sounds are explained where possible, not given speculative literal translations. Historical beliefs, royal authority, illness and protection claims belong to the text; they are not present-day judgments, medical advice or guarantees of results.
By command of Kamurogi and Kamuromi, imperial ancestral kami in Takamagahara, we invite the great sun kami. We set the two kinds of offerings, blue-bodied and white-bodied sacred cloth, upon many stands and pile various gifts like mountains. Through repeated offerings of purification, purify and cleanse us.
We worship awaiting dawn, when the morning sun rises brightly and its light shines through heaven. Many kami together, hear our wish that you guard us like unshakable rock and prolong our life.
The phrase 御太麻の倍心成就 cannot be securely interpreted from this edition. It has not been imaginatively filled in; the identifiable surrounding requests are explained.
