History and things to know

According to the temple's tradition, it was founded in Tenshō 2 (1574) by Yura Narishige, who ruled Kiryū, Ōta and Tatebayashi, as his own family temple. The official guide states that it is said to have come down without suffering a fire since its founding, that the main hall is a designated Important Cultural Property of Kiryū City, and that the gate is also a designated cultural property of the city.
