History and things to know

According to the temple's guide, it is said to have been opened at Miyagasaki in Sunpu in Daiei 2 (1522) by 法譽智聰 Shōnin of Kōmyō-ji in Kamakura. It returned to its former site after Ieyasu entered Sunpu Castle, and there are also records of Reizei Tamekazu holding poetry gatherings here. Its grounds burned in the war, and the present main hall was rebuilt in Shōwa 29.
