History and things to know
According to the temple's official guide, it was opened in Genna 3 (1617) by Shaku Genryū as one of the temples within the grounds of what was then the Asakusa Midō (today's Tsukiji Hongan-ji). After the Great Fire of Meireki it moved to Tsukiji together with the Midō; after burning again in the Great Kantō Earthquake, it moved to Haginaka in Shōwa 3, and the present main hall was built in Shōwa 53.
