History and things to know

According to the temple's tradition, in Shōan 2 (1300) Issan Ichinei, who had come to Japan from Yuan China, became its founding priest at the request of Kanasashi Mitsusada, the ōhōri (high priest) of the Lower Shrine of Suwa Taisha. After a fire in Tenbun 6 (1537) it was restored with the support of Takeda Shingen, and Shingen is regarded as the patron of its restoration.
