History and things to know

According to the official guide, until the early Shōwa period there were five village shrines—Shinmei Sha, Sugiyama Jinja, Sengen Jinja, Hachiman Jinja and 阿府神社—and in Shōwa 10 they were enshrined together and renamed Kikuna Jinja. After the war the shrine building was moved to the site of the former Hachiman Jinja, and in Heisei 23 the main sanctuary was renovated.
