History and things to know
According to the shrine's engi, it originated in Tenpyō Shōhō 1 (749), when Tamukeyama Hachimangū was invited from Usa and its portable shrine (mikoshi) came ashore here and was kept here for a time. After being ruined in the Osaka campaigns it was rebuilt by the townspeople, but it lost its buildings in the great Osaka air raids of Shōwa 20, and the present buildings were rebuilt in Shōwa 35.
