History and things to know
According to the official guide, when it was founded is not clear, but an itabi (stone memorial tablet) of Karyaku 2 (1327) has been found in its grounds, and it is thought that a temple or hermitage stood here by the end of the Kamakura period. The main hall was built in Hōei 8 (1711); it collapsed in the Great Kantō Earthquake and was rebuilt in Shōwa 5.
