History and things to know
According to temple tradition, it began in 1617 when 喜多嶋惣右衛門, a local powerful family head, built it as the family temple of the lord 池田図書政長. At first it was a Rinzai temple, but in 1660 it invited Zen Master Chōon Dōkai and became an Ōbaku temple. The temple relates that the present main hall was rebuilt in 1854 under its fifteenth head priest, 指月.
