History and things to know

According to the temple's history, it is said to have been opened in Genna 2 (1616; by another account, the following year) by the monk Yasui Santetsu, who left his name as a gokata (official go player). After his eldest son, Shibukawa Harumi, became tenmonkata and moved to Edo, the residence site was set up as a temple. A ridge tag from the Jōkyō era remains in the main hall.
