History and things to know
According to temple tradition, it began as a sub-temple of Unkō-in, which was built in Bakuro-chō in Keichō 16 (1611) at the wish of Acha no Tsubone. It burned repeatedly in great fires and moved to Fukagawa in Tenna 2 (1682); in Kyōhō 19 Hōryū-in and Seikō-in were combined to become Ryūkō-in, and Seishin-in was later merged into it as well.
