History and things to know

According to the shrine's records, it is said to have begun in Ninju 1 (851), in the Heian period, when Lord 嗣良, said to be the third son of Fujiwara no Fuyutsugu, moved here and enshrined Uka no Mitama no Mikoto beneath a great cherry tree, later enshrining Takemikazuchi no Mikoto as well (there are various views about Lord 嗣良).
