History and things to know
According to the temple's guide, when Horio Yoshiharu built Matsue Castle, a monk of this temple performed the prayers to calm the land, and the temple was moved from Hirose to the present site to guard the unlucky northeast direction (kimon) of the main enclosure. It was valued as a place of prayer for the domain lords, and after being lost in great fires, its present buildings are said to have been rebuilt in Bunka 13.
