History and things to know
According to the temple's tradition, it was founded in Kyōbashi Hatchōbori in Genna 2 (1616); its founding priest was the priest 団誉, a leading disciple of Kanchi Kokushi, and its patron founder was Yōgen-in-den, the wife of Kikkawa Kenmotsu, lord of Iwakuni Castle. It moved to Fukagawa in Kan'ei 10. The main hall burned twice, in the Great Kantō Earthquake and in the war, and the present main hall was completed in Shōwa 42.
