History and things to know

According to the official history, the Geihan Tsūshi states that it was invited here in Shōan 1 (1299), when Takeda Nobumune built a castle on Kanayama, to ward off the unlucky northeast direction (kimon). At one time it received donations of shrine lands from the Mōri clan, and the main hall was rebuilt in An'ei 7 (1778).
