What the myths hand down

An alternative account (aru fumi) in the Nihon Shoki tells of a wind kami who comes forth from the breath that Izanagi no Mikoto blew away. The account of the birth is not the same as in the Kojiki.

Links between the sources and faith

The name “Shinatsu” is interpreted in relation to wind and to the place where wind arises. We respect the differences in readings and names found in the sources, and do not fix Shinatsuhiko to a single form or gender.
