History and things to know
According to temple tradition, at the end of the Muromachi period there stood a Jūōdō (hall of the Ten Kings) and a goma hall on this site; in Tenshō 16 (1588) the hōin 頼存 rebuilt them and founded the temple, and the Kitami clan is said to have donated land for it as a place of prayer to ward off the kimon (the unlucky northeast direction). The principal image changed over time: in Meiji 21 Yakushi Nyorai was received from the head temple, and in Heisei 26 the present arrangement of enshrining the three images together was established.
