History and things to know

According to shrine tradition, it originally stood at the northeastern foot of Shiroyama and had been revered as the ubusunagami (guardian kami) of the land for more than five hundred years. In the Meiji period the various shrines of the village were enshrined together with it, and in Shōwa 11 it was moved to the site of Suemori Castle. Suemori Castle was built by Oda Nobuhide in Tenbun 16 (1547), and remains of it survive in the shrine grounds.
