History and things to know
According to the temple's tradition, it is said to have begun in Jōwa 2 (835), when Ono no Minemori built at Dazaifu "Zokumyō-in", a lodging for people who were dying with no one to care for them. It was revived as a Jōdo Shinshū temple in Genna 2 (1616), and in Shōwa 52 it moved its base from Kyushu to its present site in Edogawa.
