History and things to know
According to shrine tradition, its bettō invited the divine spirit of Hakusan in Kaga, and in Yōrō 2 (718) the inner shrine was moved to the summit of Mount Azumaya. After a flood in Ten'an 1 (857) it moved to its present site, and it received the reverence of the Sanada clan and the Ueda domain. The present shrine buildings were rebuilt in the year after a great fire in Meiji 20.
