History and things to know

According to the shrine's account of its origins, it began in 1604 when it received a divided spirit from Mitsuzō-ji in Mitoda, Imizu District, and was called Kumanomiya. Kakumi Jinja, a Shinmei shrine; Sekino Jinja, a Kumano shrine; and Takaoka Jinja, an Inari shrine, were collectively called the Sekino Three Shrines until the Edo period. In 1806 the three shrines moved together to the present site and came to be enshrined within the same grounds.
